Value Delivered
ECM worked with an ESCO client to audit over a dozen buildings for the city of Edina, MN, and then performed a range of weatherization improvements.
Annual energy savings produced by the improvements are estimated at $27,456, with a simple payback of five and a half years.
Client Objectives
The city wanted to implement building envelope improvements with the goal of helping slash energy usage and generating savings.
Solutions
Our team inspected several different buildings owned and/or operated by the city, including Braemar Arena, the city’s art center, a public works building, a fire station, liquor stores, golf facilities, and city hall. During the audit process, we were tasked with identifying air gaps in roofs, doors, windows, and walls of the facilities and developing potential solutions.
Weatherization of these buildings included installation of the following:
- Weather stripping
- Door sweeps
- Air sealing
- Caulking
- Foam (one- or two-part foam, depending on the type of joint and its visibility)
Only the highest quality materials were used, and the work was warrantied. Mobilization, installation, and cleanup were completed in four weeks.
