Cool Roofing
In the heat of the full sun, the surface of a black roof can increase in temperature by more than 100 °F over the ambient temperature, reaching temperatures up to 190 °F. This increase in surface temperature can contribute to Increased cooling load and overall usage, as well compromising indoor comfort. The sun’s radiation can also accelerate the deterioration of roofing materials.
A cool roof is a roofing system that delivers higher solar reflectance, which reduces heat transfer to the building. Cool roofing products can be rolled or sprayed onto a roof depending on the construction. Hot, sunny days often correspond to the peak cooling demand times, therefore, cool roofing can also significantly reduce electric demand charges. Cool roofs enhance roof durability and reduce both building cooling loads and the urban heat island effect.
Originally developed to withstand extreme temperatures for the space shuttle program, our cool roof coating is used to minimize solar gain by reflecting sunlight. Features include:
